How did Prop 8 overrule a decision by the CA state Supreme Court?

Please sounds like you teacher who gave out this ignment is a left wing wack job our system is based around people voting for what they want not a little group of judges legislating from the bench. If we allow our system t be overrun by these judges legislating from the bench this isn't a democracy anymore its more or less Communism
