Are these two people right?
If being retrenched you mean they were cutting jobs, and they didn't fire you because of something specific you did, then yeah it's fine to tell the person you're interviewing with that you got displaced, laid off, let go, whatever. Also, just a heads up, I wouldn't mention in an interview that you left a previous job because it was too hard, or however you said it... they'll think you want something easy to do and may not hire you. If anything say that the job wasn't challenging enough because you weren't getting enough customer traffic thru the store... etc. Something to make it look like you were trying really hard. You just have to be careful how you word it. Because in sales, they don't care if the people don't want to buy anything, it's your job to MAKE them buy something. I hate sales, that's why I don't do it anymore :) Good luck!
